Easy Wind Mitigation

The Uniform Mitigation Verification Inspection Form (OIR-B1-1802) is Florida's standardized report documenting a home's wind-resistant features — roof covering, deck attachment, roof-to-wall connections, roof geometry, secondary water resistance, and opening protection. Florida homeowners use it to qualify for the hurricane-mitigation discounts insurers are required by law to offer, which can take a significant share off the windstorm portion of a premium. It's completed by an authorized Florida inspector — a licensed home or building inspector, a general/building/residential contractor, a professional engineer, or an architect — and is valid for up to five years.
